We often mix these two words and tend to call a restaurant, a hotel. Many of us might get ridiculed for not knowing the difference between hotel and restaurant. However, to our surprise many signboards of an eating joint on the road claim to be hotels in some places like India. This question might sound absurd to you, but many places serving food call themselves a hotel. The only common factor between hotels and restaurants is that they both are business places that fulfill the different needs of the customers but their purpose is different.

One and Two-Star Hotels- These are simple accommodations with no frills and are economical

  • Some of the basic requirements for one-star hotels are that the minimum size of the bedrooms should be 120 sq. ft.
  • They will offer a clean change of bath linen daily & between check-ins.
  • Availability of hot and cold running water

 

Three-Star Hotels- Some of the requirements in three-star hotels other than the basic requirements are 


  • The minimum size of the bedroom should be 140 sq. ft
  • 50% of the rooms should be Air conditioned
  • Should have attached bathrooms minimum size 36 sq ft
  • Availability of computer with internet access, available for guests
  • Availability of Parking space
  • Each bedroom must have a lock and key
  • Presence of 1 restaurant or coffee shop.
  • 24 hours room service

Four-Star Hotels- Some of the requirements in four-star hotels other than the basic requirements are

  • The minimum size of the bedroom should be 140 sq. ft
  • All of the rooms should be Air conditioned

5 start hotels offer top-notch services, they are other names of luxury and royalty. Some of the requirements in five-star hotels other than the basic requirements are 


  • Availability of One Multi-cuisine Restaurant cum 24 hr. a coffee shop / all-day dinner, one Specialty Restaurant and 24 hr. room service.
  • The minimum size of bedroom excluding bathroom should be 200 sq. ft
  • It must have trained staff; formally qualified Heads of Departments, the supervisory or the skilled staff may have training or skilled certification.
  • Swimming pool and conference facilities are also some of the other facilities which 5-star hotels possess.

 

What Is A Restaurant?


A restaurant is a business model wherein food and drinks are served to the customer base. Restaurants serve meals within the hotel and may also provide takeaway facilities. Just like hotels restaurants are varied in size and services they offer.

The restaurants are divided based on the cuisine, preparation methods, price and ambiance they provide.

 

Multi-Cuisine or specialized cuisine


Many restaurants in Jaipur serve multi cuisines like Meraaki Kitchen, Gazeebo, etc. Some restaurants in Jaipur serve a specialized cuisine, like Akuri- It serves only Parsi cuisine.
